Summer Events Around Western Montana: Mid-June Through July 2026

One of the things I love most about living in Montana is that summer always seems to fly by. Between concerts, farmers markets, rodeos, baseball games, and weekends spent on the water, there's something happening almost every weekend across Western Montana.

Whether you're a longtime local or new to the area, here are a few events worth adding to your calendar this summer.

Flathead Valley

Summer in the Flathead is hard to beat. Flathead Lake is in full swing, Whitefish is buzzing, and the event calendar is packed.

Wake Fest kicked off the season in June at The Harbor Grille and Marina, offering boat enthusiasts the opportunity to experience the newest wake and pontoon models on the water.

Arts in the Park returns to Lawrence Park in Kalispell July 10–12, bringing artists, live entertainment, and family-friendly activities to one of the valley's favorite summer traditions.

One of Montana's biggest events, Under the Big Sky Festival, returns to Big Mountain Ranch near Whitefish July 17–19. Headlined by Chris Stapleton, Cody Jinks, and Zach Top, the festival combines incredible music with Montana's ranch lifestyle, complete with rodeo events, trail rides, and camping beneath the stars.

Throughout the summer, the Glacier Range Riders continue their baseball season at Glacier Bank Park in Kalispell, while local farmers markets keep fresh produce and handmade goods flowing throughout the valley.

Missoula Area

Summer in Missoula always feels busy in the best way.

The KettleHouse Amphitheater in Bonner continues to bring major artists to Western Montana, with highlights this season including Ziggy Marley, Widespread Panic, The Avett Brothers, Jordan Davis, and many more.

On July 21, Post Malone's BIG ASS Stadium Tour arrives at Washington-Grizzly Stadium alongside Jelly Roll, creating one of the summer's biggest entertainment events in Montana.

Downtown Missoula also stays active with the Summer MADE Fair at Caras Park, the NW Margarita Festival, and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation BrewFest and Concert Event.

Meanwhile, PaddleHeads baseball keeps fans entertained throughout the season, including the always-popular Fourth of July fireworks celebration at Ogren Park.

Bitterroot Valley

Few places embrace summer quite like the Bitterroot Valley.

The Hard Times Bluegrass Festival returns July 24–26 near Hamilton, and this year's gathering marks the final chapter for a festival that has become a beloved tradition over the past seventeen years. Known for its laid-back atmosphere and authentic Montana feel, it's a weekend many longtime attendees won't want to miss.

The Bitterroot Brewfest follows on July 25, bringing together regional breweries, live music, and food vendors in downtown Hamilton.

Throughout the valley, Saturday farmers markets continue in Hamilton, Stevensville, Florence, and Darby, while the Bitterroot Performing Arts Council hosts concerts throughout the summer.

Helena & Central Montana

Helena's popular Alive at Five concert series continues every Wednesday evening through August, creating a lively midweek gathering downtown.

Symphony Under the Stars returns July 18, offering one of Montana's most memorable outdoor concert experiences.

Later in July, the Last Chance Stampede and Fair takes over Helena with rodeo events, carnival rides, concerts, and family fun, making it one of Central Montana's signature summer traditions.

Making the Most of Summer

Summer has a way of reminding us why so many people love calling Montana home. Whether it's catching a concert at KettleHouse, spending a day on Flathead Lake, wandering through a farmers market, or heading out on a spontaneous road trip, these are the moments that make life under the big sky so special.

Wherever the season takes you, I hope you're finding time to slow down and enjoy everything that makes summer in Montana unforgettable.
